Consultancy

I have over twenty years experience as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health and twelve years specialist experience as a consultant Behavioural Psychotherapist developing, implementing and evaluating cognitive and behavioural therapeutic interventions for patients suffering from both the mood & anxiety spectrum disorders. I have developed, implemented and evaluated teaching sessions, both single day and short courses in all aspects of the Behavioural & Cognitive psychotherapies both from disorder specific and technical perspectives.

The following consultancy services are available.

Supervision

I organise and provide supervision for the Behavioural and Cognitive therapies to professionals involved in the provision of healthcare and other interested parties. This may be undertaken individually or as part of a supervision group, both in person or virtually (via Skype or msn).

Teaching & Consultancy

I organise and provide teaching sessions to professionals involved in the provision of healthcare and other interested parties, encompassing both mood disorders and the anxiety spectrum disorders from the Behavioural & Cognitive perspectives; particular experience includes: specific phobias, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, impulse control disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, relationship difficulties, eating disorders and mood disorders such as bi-polar disorder and depression.

The teaching sessions are adapted to the needs of the group and fulfil requirements for Continuing Professional Development.

Development, facilitation & supervision of brief psychological interventions

Brief intervention refers to a time-limited, patient-centred counselling strategy that focuses on changing patient behaviour and increasing patient compliance with therapy

Recent studies indicate that brief interventions may be helpful in the management of a number of problems (including smoking cessation, dietary habits, weight loss, management of diabetes, cholesterol levels & blood pressure, mild to moderate anxiety and depression) amongst people who present to primary care workers and general practitioners.

These sessions include experiential learning and participants are encouraged to role-play & practice the techniques and methods taught in pairs and small groups. Where possible, participants are encouraged to use case material from their work place.

Development, facilitation & supervision of group psychological interventions

Materials and protocols may be provided for the provision of group interventions from the Behavioural and Cognitive perspectives and instruction & supervision in their use. These sessions include experiential learning and participants are encouraged to role-play & practice the techniques and methods taught in pairs and small groups. Where possible, participants are encouraged to use case material from their work place.
